Frequently asked questions
How many tiles do I need per square metre?
It depends on the tile size. For 300×300mm tiles, you need approximately 11 tiles per m². For 600×600mm tiles, you need about 3 tiles per m². For 300×600mm tiles, about 6 per m². Always add 10% for wastage (15% for diagonal patterns).
How much extra should I buy for diagonal tiling?
Diagonal (diamond) patterns require approximately 15% more tiles than straight patterns due to the increased cutting at edges and corners. Always buy a few extra tiles to account for breakage and future repairs.
How much tile adhesive do I need?
As a general guide, allow approximately 3kg of adhesive per m² for standard floor tiles. Wall tiles use slightly less. A 20kg bag covers approximately 5–7m² depending on the substrate and tile size. Larger tiles may need back-buttering, which increases usage.
